Edit a Submittal (Inline Editing)
Correct or update a submittal's content directly in the detail panel — without going through a workflow action dialog.
Who can edit, and when
| Role | Draft / Submitted / Re-Submitted | After a disposition |
|---|---|---|
| Creator group | ✅ Title, description, properties | ❌ |
| Administrator | ✅ | ✅ |
| All other users | Read-only | Read-only |
The creator group includes the person who submitted the item and any user in the same stakeholder organization. Users without permission see the content read-only, with no pencil icons or editors.

Edit properties
In the properties grid, these fields are editable inline: Assignee, Expected Close Date, Type, Discipline, Package, Submitter Ref No, Revision, DTag. Each opens an appropriate control — dropdown, date picker, tree picker, or text input.
Not editable inline: submittal number, Document Ref. No., creator, status, created date, and dates set automatically by workflow actions.
Audit trail
Every saved inline change is recorded in the History tab with the date, the user, the changed field, and the from → to values.
Concurrent edits
If another user saved a change to the submittal after you last loaded the detail panel, the system shows a "data outdated" warning when you try to save, and prevents your save until the panel is refreshed. This protects against overwriting someone else's changes.
